No PG Accomodation for Bachelors

Paying Guests, movie review

What happens when four young fun loving boys (Shreyas Talpade, Jaaved Jaffrey, Aashish Chowdhary and Vatsal Sheth) begin a crazy house hunt which takes them through a series of ultra comical hurdles in a bid to find that one roof that can tolerate and shelter their combined problems? Paying Guests movie review…

The story of Paying Guests starts with three friends Bhavesh, Parag and Parikshit (Shreyas Talpade, Javed Jaffrey and Aashish Chaudhary respectively) who are paying guests in Kiska Minglani’s (Asrani’s) house.

Then Jayesh (Vatsal Seth), who is a Parikshit’s cousin, joins them. Overnight, they are thrown out of the house and then begins the crazy hunt for a house.
Now, they end up at Ballu Singh (Johnny Lever) and his wife Sweety’s (Delnaaz Paul) house. The crazy Sikh landlord Ballu puts forth a condition that they would allow only couples as paying guests.

They give in to his condition but how – they are all bachelors! Who will play their wives? Thus, Aashish Chaudhary and Vatsal Seth then introduce themselves as married couples with Shreyas Talpade and Javed Jaffrey posing as their respective wives. The story then shows all the different situations which the four friends face while trying to hide their reality.

The new drama triggers a series of confusions that builds into the rich complexities of mistaken identities and a climax of comic wizardries.

Paying Guests starts of well, but its narrative seems be directionless by midway. There are some funny moments, okay. But at times, the characters try so hard to tickle your funny bone, but fall flat.

The four guys Shreyas, Javed, Ashish and then Vatsal, and the landlords Johny Lever and Delnaaz Paul do well in their parts in Paying Guests.

The four leading ladies have nothing worthwhile to do. Celina and Neha are a shade better than the other two ladies Riya and Sayali Bhagat.

Asrani stands out, while Viju Khote and Paintal are just okay in Paying Guests. Chunkey Pandey and Inder Kumar who are in negative roles are just wasted.

Cinematographer P. Shelvakumar has done a good job what with some eye pleasing fresh locales of Bangkok and Pattaya, but the climax towards the end is just mediocre inPaying Guests.
